US national team defender Chris Richards set a unique achievement in the match against Paraguay, which took place in the first round of the group stage of the World Cup. In this match, which ended with a score of 4:1, Richards spent the entire 90 minutes on the field and finished the match with a perfect passing accuracy of 100%. He completed 83 passes, and each of them reached its destination. Sources say that since such statistics began at the World Cup in 1966, no player has managed to maintain perfect accuracy while completing more than 80 passes in a single match. Thus, Richards became the first football player to achieve such an indicator at the World Cup.
