Christian Pulisic and the US team are preparing for the 2026 World Cup, but AC Milan did not qualify for the Champions League

Christian Pulisic and the USA national football team are preparing to kick off their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign on home soil, aiming to wow the world and bring home the trophy. The team is drawn into Group D and will open the championship against Paraguay on June 12, before facing Australia and Turkey in the hope of reaching the knockout stage. Pulisic has certainly become one of the best players in the United States since his debut in 2016. In 84 matches, he scored 32 goals and provided 19 assists. He also helped the team reach the round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup, where the team lost to the Netherlands under Virgil van Dijk. Pulisic has also become a star in the Italian Serie A with AC Milan, but the 2025-26 season has been a mixed bag for him. In the first 11 matches of the season, he recorded eight goals and two assists. However, in the remaining 20 matches, he failed to score a single goal, earning only two assists. However, Pulisic has helped AC Milan maintain their chances of qualifying for the Champions League until the final week of the season, when the first four Serie A teams qualify. As of last week, AC Milan were in fourth place with 70 points, while Como and Juventus were close behind with 68 points. However, AC Milan were defeated by Cagliari with a score of 1-2, while Como achieved a comfortable victory over Cremonese with a score of 4-1. As a result, AC Milan finished the season with 70 points (5th place), while Como moved up to fourth place with 71 points. Juventus stayed behind Milan, drawing 2-2 with Torino and finishing with 69 points (6th place). Thus, for the second season in a row, Pulisic and AC Milan missed out on the Champions League and instead entered the Europa League, finishing in fifth place. After their failure in the Champions League, AC Milan also parted ways with coach Massimiliano Allegri.
