The head coach of the Portuguese national team, Roberto Martinez, entered into negotiations with the Saudi Al-Nasr. The Spanish specialist's contract with the Portuguese Football Federation expires at the end of the tournament, RMC reports. The club is looking for a new head coach after the departure of the Portuguese Jorge Jesus, with whom Al-Nasr became the champion of Saudi Arabia in the 2025/26 season. Martinez is seen as one of the main candidates. The specialist has led the Portuguese national team since January 2023 and won the UEFA Nations League with the team in 2024. At the 2026 World Cup, the Portuguese are playing in Group K, where in the first round on June 17 they drew with DR Congo (1:1). Roberto Martinez's team will play the next match with the Uzbekistan team on June 23.
